Sharing Seeds, Sharing Stories

Let’s honor the seeds that connect us—and the stories that nourish us.

Join us for a community seed swap and dialogue focused on the role of heirloom seeds and their importance in preserving biodiversity, history, and food sovereignty.

Participants will learn about a variety of heirloom seeds, discuss their unique cultural ties, and enjoy dishes based on these varieties.

Special Guest Speaker - Perren Carrillo (they/them) is the steward of Motherland, an ecological garden cultivating heritage foods from seed in their mother's front yard in Mid-City.

What’s on the Menu:

  • Bean salad

  • Cornmeal Pancakes

Seed Swap:

Participants will share and exchange seeds and stories tied to the seeds they share. If you don’t have seeds to share we will have some available.

What to Bring:

  • Seeds to share *optional

  • Reusable utensils and bowl
